31st Sphere

[Jecht wakes up out of the horrible Soviet nightmare, seeming pleased enough to be back in Mayfield.  At least this prison is a little more pleasant.  He's still got his scars from working at the factory, but they're not really getting in his way all that much.  Yawning and stretching, he heads outside to check the mail, tossing all the bills in the garbage like he usually does.  One letter does catch his eye, though, and he opens it up.  Inside is a picture of him, covered in the scars he gained in Spira while protecting Lord Braska on his Pilgrimage.  As soon as he picks up the photo, those same scars all painfully tear their way across his body, bleeding a bit before sealing themselves back up.  There is a sharp but brief cry of pain from Jecht, quickly suppressed as he falls to one knee.  He sneers, looking down at the picture and laughing.]

"...Yeah, that's real goddamn cute, Mayfield.  Nice to see you too."

Guess Mayfield doesn't think I got enough scars in that stupid commie town, and gave me back some more.

But you're otherwise unharmed, yes?

[identity profile] child-abuser.livejournal.com 2010-07-12 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I've had a lot worse than this. No problem.

The town gave them to you, correct? They're not from wherever we just were.

The fresh ones are from last week. These other ones are from back home with Braska and Auron.

You really can't catch a break, can you? I haven't gotten anything yet. I wonder if it's some sort of punishment. I haven't been monitoring the phones that closely since we returned. There have been some inconveniences in the house.

[identity profile] child-abuser.livejournal.com 2010-07-12 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah? What kinda inconveniences?
thenorthernwall: (Devotion.)

The relationships between the "children" and the others from our world are complicated, and I feel compelled to protect them while we're here. They saved our world, after all.

That Kimbley guy causin' trouble again?

Yes. But I'm going to teach him a lesson he won't soon forget.

It's not related to what's been occupying my time, but it's till a nuisance. Alphonse and Edward are brothers, and they've made their lives very hard because of a few mistakes. Without each other, they'd probably fail miserably at living.

Huh. Don't think I know those two.

I think they learned something from it, as stupid as the punishment was.

Must be pretty sharp kids. Most wouldn't learn a damn thing.

Edward lost an arm and a leg; Alphonse lost his entire body. It was difficult not to learn from it.

...How'd he learn from losing his whole body? Doesn't that kind of thing usually... y'know... kill ya?

Oh, so he's kind of like an Aeon. Gotcha. His brother must be pretty damn powerful to manage magic like that.
thenorthernwall: (And truth be told.)

It's just alchemy. It's fairly common in our world; however, using it on people isn't generally acceptable.

Damn. So people in your world just toss that kinda shit around all the time, then?

I don't really approve of it. My brother is an alchemist, too.

Of the people here, only the brothers and Mustang are.

That kinda stuff's a little rarer where I'm from. The summoners know the best magic, and they have to train like hell. Other than that, it's just people with the talent for it.
